How we work

The site visit: what we look at, how long it takes and what to prepare

It is free, takes an hour and decides the quality of the quote. Here is what we do when we come to your home and what helps us work better.

The site visit is the most important moment of the whole job, more than the quote itself: a quote is only as good as the site visit behind it. That is why we always do one, it is free and it is done by the person who will then follow the works.

What we do

  • We listen: what does not work today, how you want to use the spaces, what budget you have in mind. Saying it straight away avoids oversized quotes.
  • We measure with a laser meter and take the photos we need for the design.
  • We open things: consumer unit, manifold cabinets, shutter boxes, attic hatch. The state of the systems is seen there.
  • We check for damp with a hygrometer and, if needed, a thermal camera.
  • We tell you straight away what is feasible, what needs a permit and what, in our view, is not worth doing.

How long it takes

From half an hour for a bathroom or a small roof to an hour and a half for a complete flat. We come when it suits you, Mon-Fri 9 to 17; you can book it from the form by choosing day and time slot.

What to prepare

  • The floor plan of the home, if you have it (even a photo of the cadastral one).
  • A few reference photos of how you would like the result: a saved page is worth more than ten words.
  • The latest energy bills, if the topic is energy saving.
  • The building regulations or the building manager's contact, for works touching façade, roof or common parts.
  • The questions that come to mind in the days before: write them down.

Afterwards

Within a few days you receive the written, itemised quote, with the expected timing and the applicable deductions. We go through it together, by phone or in person, and adjust it until it is right. No commitment until you sign.

Would you like an opinion on your case?

The site visit is free and the quote is written and itemised.
